Understanding Uzbekistan as a destination for Muslim travel markets
📅 25–31 March 2026 - Trade Delegation Programme & Curated Site Visits
1 April 2026 - International Halal Tourism Roadshow (Tashkent)
About the programme

Uzbekistan sits at the heart of the Silk Road, shaped over centuries by scholarship, trade, craftsmanship, and faith. For travel professionals working with halal-conscious and culturally curious travellers, it offers depth, coherence, and a strong sense of place.

The delegation includes curated site visits across Tashkent, Bukhara and Samarkand, forming the familiarisation (FAM) component of the programme and is designed to support a more informed and confident approach to selling and positioning the destination. The programme brings together destination context, professional evaluation, and trade engagement, allowing participants to understand what Uzbekistan offers, and how it works across different traveller profiles and markets.

Programme focus

Across the programme, participants will explore Uzbekistan through several lenses:

  • Islamic heritage and centres of learning, and how these shape the cultural narrative of the destination
  • Architecture, urban form, and heritage sites, considered in terms of routing, pacing, and visitor experience
  • Everyday halal lifestyle, including dining norms, prayer access, and service expectations
  • Tourism infrastructure, viewed from a practical and marketable perspective

Throughout the week, there will be space for professional discussion, comparison, and reflection, supporting clearer product decisions and more accurate client communication.

The programme culminates in a dedicated trade roadshow in Tashkent on 1 April, providing an opportunity to engage directly with local operators and explore collaboration.

Delegation Highlights

The programme engages with key reference points across Uzbekistan, including Tashkent as the contemporary capital, Bukhara as a historic centre of Islamic learning, and Samarkand as a Silk Road city shaped by trade, learning, and architecture. The focus is on how these layers translate into coherent, market-ready itineraries for halal-conscious and culturally curious travellers.

What participants will take away
  • A clearer sense of destination fit - An informed understanding of which traveller profiles Uzbekistan suits best, and how to position it honestly and confidently across different markets.
  • Stronger itinerary judgement - Insight into how heritage, cities, and experiences can be combined and paced in a way that feels coherent and rewarding for clients.
  • Practical, first-hand assessment - The opportunity to evaluate accommodation and key sites with an eye on comfort, expectations, and communication, supporting more grounded selling.
  • Trade relationships and dialogue - Access to local partners through the Tashkent roadshow on 1 April, creating space for meaningful conversations beyond the familiarisation phase.
