Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at JKIA/Olkupelia Mara
You arrive at Jomo Kenyatta (NBO) and will be transferred by road to Wilson airport. Depending on your time of arrival, you might need a pre-night in Nairobi.
Arrive at Keekorok airstrip, where you are met by the lodge and transfer directly to Olkupelia Mara. Your 5 night stay includes all your meals, and 2 game drive per day, talk to your safari guide to plan your days. Relax through the heat of the day as you gaze out over the Masai Mara National Reserve, before embarking on an afternoon game drive to take advantage of the cooler part of the day, when wildlife is generally more active, before returning to the camp for dinner in the restaurant or under the stars.

Day 2: Olkupelia Mara
Your morning game drives with your Maasai guide takes you in search of Africa’s Big Five and other wildlife of the Masai Mara. Enjoy lunch as a picnic or back in camp, before an afternoon game drive to explore new areas – including the safari tradition of sundowner drinks at the end of the day. Enjoy dinner in camp as you listen to the sounds of the savannah night.

Day 3: Olkupelia Mara
Continue to experience the vastness of the plains, and go where the game is with close encounters with wildlife. wind up with a visit to a traditional Maasai village to immerse yourself in their rich culture and learn about their way of life.
Later back at camp, learn more about our unique approach to responsible tourism on a behind-the-scenes tour of the camp. visit our community-driven women’s empowerment initiative, where we support Maasai women in achieving financial independence through traditional beadwork, sustainable crafts, and entrepreneurship. You can also discover our tree planting project and plant a tree of your own to help offset the carbon emissions of your journey to the Mara.

The day begins with a hearty breakfast before heading out on an exhilarating morning game drive, where you’ll witness an abundance of wildlife, birds, and stunning landscapes, made even more magical by the sunrise. Your expert guide shares fascinating insights, like how no two giraffes have the same spot pattern or how elephants communicate through vibrations.
After a leisurely lunch under an acacia tree, the adventure continues with an afternoon game drive, offering thrilling encounters with lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, crocodiles, and hippos. As the sun begins to set, enjoy a memorable sundowner experience with refreshing drinks and delicious bites, set against the backdrop of the Mara’s golden horizon.
Between game drives, take time to explore the Maasai Mara on a guided nature walk or indulge in birdwatching within the camp, learning more about the region’s unique flora and fauna. Day 5: Olkupelia Mara
Start your day with an unforgettable hot air balloon safari at around 5:30 am. Elegant and awe-inspiring, a hot air balloon ride offers the most breathtaking way to experience the Maasai Mara’s stunning landscapes.
The adventure begins before sunrise, allowing you to witness the magical union of golden skies, abundant wildlife, and serene surroundings. The flight lasts 60-90 minutes, providing ample time to soar above the Mara’s sweeping plains. Glide just above the treetops for close, safe encounters with wildlife, or ascend higher for a bird’s-eye view of the majestic landscape.
After your flight, celebrate with a delicious champagne breakfast served in the heart of the wild, creating a truly memorable experience. Following this, continue your adventure with regular game drives, exploring the Mara’s diverse wildlife and scenic beauty until evening.

Day 6: Departure
After an early morning breakfast and your last early morning gamed rive, you will be taken back to the airstrip for your flight back to Nairobi. Upon arrival, you will be taken to the hotel of your choice or the airport. This is where your safari will end.

Do I need a visa to travel to Kenya?
Kenya requires you to obtain an e-visa ahead of time.
E-visas for Kenya can be applied for by visiting www.evisa.go.ke
Only apply for your E-Visa within a month to a week before you travel, if you do it earlier it just sits in a queue. The process is usually complete within 48 hours of submitting the application; check back into the portal and it is there – they don’t send emails alerting you to status. When filling in the form, you will be required to provide an address of where you will be staying. Olkupelia Mara office address is as follows: Sifa Towers, Lenana Road, Kilimani Nairobi. This address can be used throughout the application.
